Terms of Service

Last Updated: March 7, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Dongip, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you use the app on behalf of a group or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind them to these terms.

2. Description of Service

Dongip is a personal and group expense management application. It allows you to:

  • Track income and expenses, categorize transactions, and view balances and reports.
  • Optionally connect bank accounts via Plaid to sync account and transaction data.
  • Create wallets, budgets, and recurring transactions.
  • Add friends and create shared or group expenses with split and payment tracking.
  • Receive in-app notifications and transactional emails (e.g. welcome, account deletion).

Use of certain features (e.g. bank linking) may be subject to third-party terms, including Plaid's and your financial institution's. Authentication is provided by Clerk (Google, Apple, or email); their terms apply to sign-in and account management.

3. Not a Financial Advisor, Bank, or Money-Transmitter

Dongip is a tool for organization and convenience only.

  • We do not provide professional financial, legal, or tax advice.
  • We are not a bank, credit union, or money-transmitter. We do not hold or move funds.
  • Bank linking is provided by Plaid; we display data Plaid makes available to us. We do not have access to your bank login credentials.
  • Any financial decisions you make based on data in the app are your sole responsibility.

4. User Conduct and Account Security

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure (e.g. not sharing sign-in methods or codes).
  • You agree not to use the service for any illegal purpose (e.g. money laundering, fraud) or in violation of applicable laws.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter. In shared expenses, Dongip is not responsible for disputes between you and other members about who owes what or how amounts were split.
  • You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, other users' accounts, or our systems.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dongip and its providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including loss of data, profits, or business) arising from your use of the service, reliance on data in the app, inaccuracies in synced or entered data, unauthorized access to your account, or the acts of third-party services (e.g. Plaid, Clerk). Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim.

6. Termination

You may close your account at any time by requesting account deletion (see our Privacy Policy or the in-app delete-account flow). We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraud or abuse, or for operational or legal reasons. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends; we may delete or retain data as described in our Privacy Policy and data retention policy.

7. Changes and Contact

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance. For questions about these terms or the service, contact us at [email protected].
